The Dapeng Bay Yacht & Regatta Festival, held annually, kicked off amid much fanfare on the 14th at the Yacht Port of the Peng Bay International Leisure Zone. A flyboard exhibition match also convened ahead of the series of events to take place in the following three weekends.
On the opening day, as many as 18 keel boats sailed across the Dapeng Bay Bridge, impressing visitors. A remarkable flyboard match also drew many who love water sports.
Pingtung is surrounded by the seas on three sides and the climate is warm and comfy like in the spring all year round. This year, in conjunction with the Tourism Bureau’s “bayside tourism year,” from Dapeng Bay’s lagoons to Little Liuqiu’s coral reef islands, plenty of water activities such as water scooter, yacht and sailboat tours are being promoted.
Yacht experiences and flyboard events are especially held this year for the festival. As a result, a number of players have registered for the festival’s competitions from overseas. The five competitions are: professional sailing across Little Liuqiu; fun, easy-to-operate canoeing; student-only creative eco-boat design contest; unique SUP; and Taiwan’s one-and-only water scooter contest.
The organizer has especially invited Monte Fino Yachts to display Victoria 76, a luxurious yacht for professional diving and overnight stays. Visitors are welcome to board the yacht and take a look.
Every week, during the festival period, fun adventure games, street performances, and live band shows will take place at the main stage. Special sales will also be held by the Dapeng Bay Tourism Industry Alliance. A special day for “furry kids” (pets) will be held in the third week, including adventure games and DIY sessions for the animals, as well as charity sales.
Visitors may get prize-draw tickets upon presenting invoices from certain shops in Dapeng Bay or Donggang, at a certain purchase amount. The prizes include accommodation coupons for Orient Resort Pengbay, an international hotel.
