Uca borealis
Characterized by their bright yellow claws, the northern calling fiddler crabs are also called the “yellow-claw fiddler crabs. Because in the middle of each claw there is an arch-shaped dent, they are also called “dented-finger fiddler crabs.” The females have small, grayish claws. Both males and females have either earth-colored or grey backs.

Uca arcuata
Bowed fiddler crabs are common in muddy places near river outlets in Taiwan. For their dark geometrical back patterns, they are also called “net-patterned” fiddler crabs. The males have tiny orange-red dots on their claws, while the females are characterized by pure red claws. Baby crabs have rather different colors. Some are orange-red and others light blue.

Uca chlorophthalmus
Thick-legged fiddler crabs are nick-named as “red bean” fiddler crabs because they have red shells and claws. Yet some have dark stripes on their sides. Some others have black-white or black-blue stripes on their backs.
