These trees can stand colder weather and are therefore sometimes planted in central and northern Taiwan for tourism purposes. They are the most famous kind.

Rhizophora stylosa
Rhizophora is a genus of tropical mangrove trees. It used to be mistakenly called “five-legged pears.” These evergreen trees are mostly 3-10 meters tall. Found near river outlets, lagoons and soft muddy lands, they are very typical mangrove trees. Yet today they are becoming more rare and can only be found in southern Taiwan, mostly in the wetlands of Sikunshen and Sicao, Tainan.

Black Mangrove
Black mangroves are the most common kind of mangroves in Taiwan. They can be found all across the island, from the Hongmao Port of Hsinchu in the north to the Dapeng Bay of Pingtung in the south.
